Sparrow's and Carr's Beach was a well known beach resort near Annapolis Maryland that catered to African Americans. It was a popular stop on the Chitlin Circuit(a collection of performance venues that exhibited black musicians, a central focus of black culture, a refuge, and black owned by two sisters; Elizabeth Carr Sparrow and Florence Carr Sparrow. This symbol of black culture was lost in the 1973 when the beaches were closed to make accomodations for a water treatment plant.
